Catalyst Counsellor

Dr. Sherry Ghorbankhani PsyD, RCC, CCC

Are you feeling down or anxious?

Dr. Ghorbankhani supports and offers guidance based on confidentiality and respect. She holds a Doctorate Degree in Psychology (PsyD) and is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC), a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) with the designation of Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC).

For the past 12 years, she has been offering counselling services and has conducted several research projects, including one that delved into the Educational, Mental, and Emotional Effects of Delayed Assessment and Educational Alterations for Gifted Students. Her master’s degree thesis, “Narcissus and Echo: Narcissistic Personality Disorder Examined,” brought to light the complexities of narcissistic personalities and their influence on those around them.

She specializes in various practice areas, encompassing adaptations, relationships, giftedness, cross-cultural counselling, anxiety, and depression.

What sets Dr. Ghorbankhani apart is her holistic approach to therapy. She emphasizes the importance of supporting individuals as a whole rather than merely addressing some of their symptoms. She believes that we all, at some stage in the journey of our lives, may encounter moments of difficulty and challenges. Whether it’s navigating relationships, coping with loss, adjusting to new phases, managing familial conflicts, dealing with health issues, or pursuing education or career goals, these experiences can weigh heavily on our shoulders.

These feelings may lead us to think nothing will ever change or get better or that there is no bright tomorrow in our future. However, what’s important is the way we view things and with whom we can share our most personal thoughts, feelings, and fears. She collaboratively and nonjudgmentally works with her clients to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs and goals. Her therapeutic methods are grounded in evidence-based practices while keeping herself informed about the latest research, techniques and methods in psychology. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which, when necessary, complements her therapeutic work.
