Therapy Support For Parents and Kids in North Vancouver

Tools and Support to help Today's Parents Cope and Support the Growth & Development of Their Children.

With a never ending supply of parenting “information” at your fingertips, conflicting advice and sometimes, differences in parenting values – raising kids in today’s world is a challenge for all of us. The pressures, constraints and demands of life take a toll on everyone within the household and therapy is an incredibly effective and impactful way to bring everyone together to see, understand and  reflect on how their individual stories are impacting each other and how to communicate and connect to resolve conflicts in a healthy and constructive manner.

We work with couples or families to help them identify core issues and develop effective coping strategies for resolving their differences and conflicts. Psychotherapists can act as mediators, helping to facilitate communication and understanding between partners or family members.

Our Approach to Supporting Parents & Families

Canada and especially Vancouver, is a cultural melting pot and there can often be unresolved tension between multi-generation households, where cultures and values are clashing between generations and family members on how the family should operate, communicate, address challenges and even answer complex questions around education, activities, household roles and community.

Dr. Sherry is a strong believer and proponent of “A Flexible Mindset” and taking a holistic approach to working with clients and a key part of this is mindset. Unhelpful beliefs can contribute to stress, anxiety, and self-doubt, but the good news is that mindsets can change. By shifting your perspective and developing a growth mindset, you can overcome challenges, embrace learning, and improve resilience.

Stanford researcher Dr. Carol Dweck defines two key mindsets:

Fixed Mindset: Believing traits are unchangeable, leading to fear of failure and avoidance of challenges.

Growth Mindset: Embracing change, seeing failure as an opportunity for learning, and developing over time.

By recognizing and reshaping thought patterns, you can build confidence, improve well-being, and create lasting positive change in your life.
